Personality Test

Amesto has staff certified in the 16PF5 personality test. This test is one of the world's most widely used and most recognised personality tests and is a good, proven, aid in recruitment. The results from the test can indicate the relevant job applicant's aptitudes within various areas of work.

16PF5 is a questionnaire that measures individual variations in various personality factors. The form, 16PF, was first developed in the USA by a British researcher called Raymond Cattell who collected more than 18,000 adjectives that describe behaviour.

Inspired by the Spearman's work on psychometrics, Cattell conducted a factor analysis of the adjectives and arrived at his 16 basic personality factors

Warmth, reasoning, liveliness, emotional stability, dominance, rule-consciousness, social boldness, sensitivity, vigilance, abstractedness, privateness, apprehension, openness to change, self-reliance, perfectionism and tension.

16PF5 builds on the original version of 16PF and has been thoroughly assessed against its American predecessor. The 16 personality factors are bipolar, i.e. both high and low scores are of significance. For example, a low score for the dominance factor represents a compliant personality who can cooperate but avoids conflicts. A high score for the dominance factor represents a dominant, forceful and self-assertive personality.

The 16 factors make up 5 global personality factors that provide a more detailed picture of someone's personality.

Extraversion, neuroticism, agreeableness, openness and conscientiousness.

The test has now been standardised on an international and national basis, and is, from a global perspective, regarded as the most credible. The developers of other tests use 16PF as a point of reference to check their tools are measuring what they are supposed to.
